Postby kimi_boo on Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:56 pm

Good Afternoon class.... :wave:

As always this assignment is open to EVERYONE who is reading the forum.
Our lesson never end so if you find this late, please feel free to add your image.

Remember.... if you see an image that you like, please leave a comment for your fellow students. Everyone likes a pat on the back.
There is no right or wrong process here. The point of the creative homework is... to be Kreative!!
Just Jump in and Have Fun!! :biggrin:

A reminder.... this is not really homework. (it is just called homework) These exercises are open to everyone. Hope to see lots of entries!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week is not a re-run. I have a new assignment.
We are going to work on giving our images more of a 3D look. Having your main subject bright and having your background darker, knowing the eye will be drawn to the lightest area.
open your image (you can work your normal processing)
open a levels adjustment layer and click OK without making any adjustments.
change your levels layer blend mode to multiply.
click on the mask to activate it
pick a soft round brush and make sure black is selected as your foreground color.
paint with your brush to reveal the main subject of your photo.
you can lower the opacity of your levels layer if you find it too dark.
Have Fun!! :biggrin:
here is my play....
I color corrected. (really bad orange cast) did some of my normal processing. I still thought the color was off so I converted to black and white, added my color layer on top and reduced opacity. I like it much better toned down. Combined both layers then worked my multiply background. I duplicated it for a darker effect and then dropped the opacity on the second layer to around 50%.
I hope you can see the difference in how darkening your background brings all the focus forward.
Look how in the after she seems to be coming forward.
Here is my sooc image.
Chas... love the flower! :biggrin: Mine haven't gotten that far.
Min... love what it did to the sky. Very dramatic! You could dodge your rays of light to make then stand out. :P
