Wonderful photos, Courtney

Rusty, what an outfit! My guess is that the owners of the funeral home must be closet bikers!
Somehow, the rig seems very irreverent However, it definitely is creative, super interesting & actually funny.

Outdoor Food

Postby bjt » Tue Jul 13, 2010 3:02 pm

I found this toad following the caterpillar around, early morning, a few days ago. I was watching to see if he actually was going to try to gobble it up. Finally, the toad turned around & took off in the opposite direction. I don't know if he gave up on the idea, or whether I with my camera interfered.

(I happily disposed of the caterpillar.)

I think that colorful caterpillar just has the toad buffaloed. He wants to, just can't get up the nerve.

Tonight on the local evening news one of the commercials was the funeral home I mentioned; they were making a point of being the only one you could go to for a "real biker funeral". They had a short video of the rig I photographed, all set up to start off on a procession. Now, you know how funeral home employees are always dressed in black or dark blue suits, white shirts, muted ties, serious expressions? ... well, the driver of this rig had the black trousers, tie and shoes, white shirt and a black leather vest!
Looked pretty cool :bigwink:

Really like the 'biker funeral' vehicle. I've seen biker headstones displayed around here.

BJ, never saw such a colorful caterpillar. Too bad the toad didn't take care of it for you!

I'm slow getting my photos this month, and we're leaving in about 10 days....heading to northern Wis....but I do have 'splash'. Took a bunch of shots before I finally got one that works, sort of.

Our church festival always has a dunk tank ... always popular with the little boys. One armed himself with a high tech squirt gun to shoot back at the ball throwers. Didn't do him any good. He still went splash

Somewhat more detailed version in my gallery: http://www.viovio.com/photos/image/2308414/19932

I used Jane's excellent "paper curl" template for the individual images.

Betty, thanks. Your outdoor food picture is clever!

Rusty, a dunk tank is perfect for splash.

I have another outdoor food shot, this one taken today at a "Stampede breakfast." In Calgary there is a big rodeo / midway / festival a lot like a state fair every July. It's called the Stampede, and a tradition during the 10 days of the Stampede is the free pancake breakfast. I have no idea why, but if you don't mind standing in loooong lines, you can have a free breakfast every day for over a week. Many of the breakfasts also have a dj or band and activities for the kids. Our neighborhood had a Stampede breakfast this morning.

There was a climbing wall there. Kids were climbing up and down.

BJ, I remember those cracks! The only good thing about them is that when it does rain a lot of the water goes down in them instead of just running off and causing flash floods.
